Law Admissions Specialist/Counselor

The Law Admissions Specialist/Counselor is responsible for assisting and coaching students throughout the law school application process by providing comprehensive academic and admissions advising services.

Summary of Role

The Law Admissions Specialist/Counselor is responsible for assisting and coaching students throughout the law school application process by providing comprehensive academic and admissions advising services. The Law Admissions Specialist/Counselor assists students with the entire law school application process, including school search, application and acceptance, drawing on firsthand experience evaluating applications as a former reader at a top 20 law school.

  • Establish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with students and families based on trust, understanding and respect for the communities in which they identify.
  • Educate and guide students and parents about law schools, the admissions process, trends, procedures, and required testing (e.g., LSAT, GRE).
  • Coach students on the entire law school application process, including scholarship and merit aid considerations.
  • Participate in sales events, demonstrating a mastery of concepts in law school admissions.
  • Assist students with researching and defining their law school selections that are a good fit for their academic and career goals.
  • Guide students on criteria for law school visits, tours, and information sessions.
  • Assist and provide strategic feedback on resumes, personal statements, and supplemental essays, drawing on insider knowledge of what admissions committees look for.
  • Assist students with the law school application process, which includes editing and providing feedback on their applications.
  • Coach and prepare students for admissions interviews by providing mock interview strategies.
  • Provide guidance on undergraduate course selection, LSAT/GRE preparation timing, extracurricular activities, and internships relevant to law school admissions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Must be able to work nights and weekends as needed.
  • Self-motivated, with a dedication to keeping up to date with the evolving landscape of law school admissions.
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher is required; J.D. preferred.
  • Prior experience as an application reader at a top 20 law school required.
  • 2-8 years of experience in law school admissions, legal education, or related advising field.
  • Computer skills, with working knowledge of Google Workspace.
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check and other pre-employment screening.
